Your Overall Wellness Coach
You may be asking, what is an Overall Wellness Coach? Before I answer that, here is a little bit more information on my background and how I started in this work. I've been exercising my entire life, from playing sports to when I was a kid, to now lifting weights in the gym, continuing sports, and competing in Spartan Races. I take my physical health extremely serious from exercising, diet, and routines. I believe you can not have good mental health without having great physical health.

After graduating high school, I attended college and majored in Psychology. I did this because I wanted to help people and I felt this was the right path for me at the time. After completing my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, I realized I had to do more with my education in order to make a better living in this world. I decided to get my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. While I was in this program, I realized a lot of the teachings went against things I value in life. Such as, how depression disorder and anxiety disorder are not real mental illnesses, and how medication for these two "disorders" should never be taken. I also value that there are only two genders in this world, besides the rare occurrence of intersex individuals. This program taught the opposite of those things. Yes this may be a shocker to hear, but I believe depression and anxiety are simply just feelings and emotions that are coming from various external factors of our lives, not because we are born with them in our brain. I still believe in other mental illnesses and mental health overall, but I simply do not believe in the two most commonly diagnosed and medicated ones (depression & anxiety). I was also taught there is over 60 genders in this world and that number is increasing by the day, and that is something I found foundationally wrong in this field. Besides being taught those things, this program never educated me on where mental illnesses stemmed from or how to prevent them. For the most part, therapy is focused on talking and expressing feelings (which is important to a small degree), changing thought patterns (which I agree with), and then suggesting medication when the therapy did not work for an individual (which I strongly disagree with). That was the main premise I was taught. So instead of dropping out, I decided to finish my degree and complete over 900 hours of conducting therapy that was needed in order to graduate, because I am not a quitter. And although I didn't agree with certain things in this field, there was still valuable lessons that I learned that I can apply to helping others.

After graduating I did a lot of soul-searching and decided I still really want to help people live better lives, but I want to do it my way and how I think will be beneficial for people. This is where Overall Wellness Coaching came about. This coaching is similar to life coaching and therapy, but also differs from both of them quite a bit. Here we look at everything from physical health, relationships, financial well-being, and many other aspects of someone's life to understand and improve each individual. I created an 11-step checklist that breaks down what we need to focus on in each individual's life and how these details affect our overall health. And I truly believe when these areas of our life are focused on and changed for the better, our mental health will improve drastically!
